Eastern Market After Dark 2022

Eastern Market After Dark (EMAD) returns after a two year hiatus thanks to the generous support of the Knight Foundation! EMAD is a signature event of the Detroit Month of Design and is produced by Design Core Detroit. EMAD is a district wide night time open-studio involving several galleries, retailers, brand activations, music, and more. Activities will take place from Riopelle and Gratiot to the Dequindre Cut. This year’s event will occur on Thursday, September 15th from 6pm – 11pm and is free and open to the public.

Created in 2012 with an emphasis on sharing the talent of Detroit based artists, designers, and businesses, EMAD has grown from an initial attendance level of 4,000 to attracting more than 25,000 attendees in 2019 and features the work of emerging to established designers.

This year during EMAD Design Core will convert Shed 2 into the “North End Pavilion” to honor and support the works and stories of Detroit’s North End Community. Design Core is partnering with Philip Simpson, Donna Jackson, Bryce Detroit, Reshounn Foster, LaDonna Little, the Underground Music Academy and more on the curation of the North End Pavilion. Throughout the market, additional activities include; the American Institute of Architecture Detroit Chapter’s(AIA), acclaimed Celebration of Architecture in Shed 3, and appearances by d.Cipher, The Detroit City Marching Band and more.
