How do I find my way around?
See our market map.
Where can I park?

Parking is free (except on Lions tailgating Sundays) throughout Eastern Market, including the Eastern Market Parking Garage on Riopelle Street and the large lots at the north corners of the market on Wilkins Street. At peak times you may have to hunt a little, but people frequently come and go, opening up spaces. The large, south parking lot near Russell Street and the Fisher Freeway Service Drive is now open. See our market map.

Where can I talk to someone if I have questions?

Our Market Office is open Monday – Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  You can also stop by the Welcome Center on market days to ask a question, get our newest maps and recipes, use our bathrooms, donate to be a Friend of Eastern Market or get Eastern Market Bridge Card tokens.

Is Gratiot Central Market part of Eastern Market?
No, but it's in The Eastern Market District and features individually owned meat markets. Get hours and details.
Does Eastern Market give tours?
As a Friend of Eastern Market, groups of 10 can schedule a ‘Behind the Scenes” tour with Dan Carmody, President of Eastern Market Partnership.  In addition, independent organizations offer tours of Eastern Market.
Can I take photos or shoot video of Eastern Market?
Visitors are welcome (and encouraged) to take photos and video for personal use throughout The Eastern Market District. Commercial photography and videos require prior written consent. If you have photos that you think we'd like to see, please email them to!

Can I shop at Eastern Market when it's open for wholesalers?
The Wholesale Market largely supplies independent grocers, restaurants, schools and institutions purchasing large volumes of fresh produce and flowers. Consumers can shop there if they want to buy in bulk.
Is Eastern Market a flea market?
No, but we offer a range of material goods and artisan items on a few of our market days, including home goods, art, jewelry, Michigan-made products and more.  Our Sunday Street market is dedicated to these items, and our Saturday market is also home to several material goods vendors.
Can I check which vendors will be there on a given day and where they'll be set up?
Because vendors under Sheds 2 through 6 are independently run businesses, their attendance can change week to week, based on weather, health, farming schedules and other variables. You can contact a vendor through the Vendor Directory for specifics.
How can I find out what's in season at the market today and what they're charging for individual items?
Since each vendor and business in the district is independently owned, they determine their own inventory and pricing. Check our directory to contact them. Items in season can be found here.
Does Eastern Market have live animals?
Does Eastern Market have free-range chickens?
Usually, but check with farmers or butchers in our vendor directory for availability.
Does Eastern Market have organic produce?
Organic options are usually available. Be sure to ask vendors about their growing and processing methods.

Payment Methods

What payment does Eastern Market accept?

Selling & Fundrasing

How do I become a vendor at Eastern Market?
We'll walk you through the process at Become a Vendor.
Can my Scout troop (or other nonprofit) pass out or sell items?
Please contact the market office for permission to be at the Market – all non-profits and community groups must be registered and approved. Contact us for more information.
Can I sell Scentsy/Mary Kay/Avon/etc. at Eastern Market?
We don't rent stalls to for-profit corporations or franchises to advertise or sell merchandise. Our focus leans toward small, independent, local food companies and locally made craft goods. From time to time we allow a corporate partner to set up at the market and pass out promotional information, typically as a sponsor/large donor of Eastern Market Partnership (the nonprofit organization that manages the market). If you're interested in a sponsorship, please contact our Development Director.

What is Eastern Market's approach to food safety on market days?
We make safety our primary concern in all that we do, and we work with the FDA, MDARD and state and local health inspectors to follow all guidelines and regulations.  If you're interested in food safety training, P.I.C. (Person In Charge) Food Safety is housed in the Eastern Market district and offers classes.
Does Eastern Market have a Lost & Found?
Yes. Call us at 313.833.9300 or contact us.
Can I bring my dog (or other pet)?
To keep foods safe, the Michigan Department of Agriculture will not allow pets under the sheds, in vendor stalls or around food trucks unless you have a clearly marked service designation.
When is Flower Day?
Flower Day takes place the Sunday after Mother's Day every year.
Is smoking allowed at Eastern Market? Are there specified areas?
Smoking is not allowed in and around the sheds, or near the vendor stalls and merchandise.
