Travel Michigan hopes the second time is the charm for the debut of its new "Soul" TV commercial focused on Detroit.

The TV ad, part of the state's Pure Michigan campaign, was supposed to debut April 10 during the Detroit Tigers game against the New York Yankees, but the game was postponed due to cold, wet weather. Additionally, the game and TV spot were going to be broadcast nationally onESPN. Instead a 30-second shortened version called "Story of Detroit" was released by the Pure Michigan team.

Narrated by metro Detroit native actor Tim Allen, the commercial is faster-paced than the usual Pure Michigan ad. It features shots of many well-known Detroit locations including Belle Isle,Eastern Market, Campus Martius Park and other spots to highlight the vibrant art and culture scene in the city.
