Urban Farming Education and Programming to Advance Sustainability, Climate Resilience, and Sales Capacity
Eastern Market in collaboration with the City of Detroit’s Office of Sustainability Urban Agriculture Division are pleased to announce grant funding opportunities to Detroit-based farmers and farmer collectives to lead community-serving projects that support food sovereignty, environmental education, climate resilience, and sustainable land use. These grants are designed to get resources directly to growers and collectives, while advancing the city’s sustainability goals.
The funding aims to advance food access, environmental education, climate resilience, and sustainable land use while expanding sales opportunities for local growers. The funds will be awarded through a Request for Proposal process now open through October 30th and will grant three collectives $50,000 each and five individual farmers $15,000 each.
Grants will be announced in November and awarded for work starting in December.
Food & Health Fellowship 2025
The Food & Health Fellow opportunity is a seasonal (May – October) part-time position requiring a 25-34 hours per week commitment as well as mandatory training in May. EMP expects to build a 12-person team who will learn from and engage with a variety of experts and organizations working to build a more inclusive, resilient, and robust regional food system.
Urban Ag Produce Share Assembly Team
Are you passionate about local food production and community welfare? Join us as a Produce Share Packing Employee and help feed the Detroit community! We are seeking individuals with a strong interest in supporting local food systems to assist in packing CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares for distribution to food-insecure families.
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, May through November.
